We would be remiss if we didn't give the same care and attention to the environment as we do our patients.
Located on 160 acres, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital is sensitive to the wildlife we're happy to have as neighbors. We're committed to preserving the woodlands and wetlands that make our campus an ideal healing environment for patients.
To that end, our new facility is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and features many Earth-friendly elements including:
Water-retentive plantings on the roof, which will reduce heating and cooling costs
Large expanses of glass for natural light
Rainwater garden for improved water quality
Reduction or elimination of hazardous materials such as toxic paint
Energy-efficient heating and cooling systems
Recycling system that includes shipment boxes
All our produce, from the fruit salad in our cafeteria to the lettuce leaf adorning our guests' tuna salad sandwiches, is grown in accordance with sustainable agriculture practices that allow food to be grown without harming the land, environment or people.
