In Case of Emergency

The new Emergency Department at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital currently sees approximately 34,000 patients a year; that number is projected to grow to 48,000 within five years.

Features include:

  • The Henry Ford West Bloomfield Emergency Department was the first health care facility in western Oakland County to be designated a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in 2006.
  • Rapid Registration and Triage
  • Private Rooms (30) with ICU doors and curtains for privacy, as opposed to the industry standard of only curtained bays.
  • Many rooms have private bathrooms.
  • Each room is 40% larger than standard allowing room for families at bedside
  • Flat Panel TV in each room
  • Electronic Order entry and electronic medical record for increased safety.  No hand writing errors. Can be viewed anywhere in Henry Ford Health System for continuity of care.
  • Radiologist interpreted studies 24 hours a day; xray and ultrasound departments. 
  • Concierege Services available including food samples, blankets, magazines to make your stay more comfortable.
  • There are two trauma bays and a trauma overflow room capable of handling up to five patients simultaneously.
  • A decontamination area with separate entrance can treat two patients at once. A rapidly deployable decontamination tent allows for treatment of higher volumes should the need arise.
  • The Emergency Department is a certified Chest Pain Center, to determine the cause of the pain, and, if necessary, provide fast, life-saving heart-attack treatment.
