Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital’s Demonstration Kitchen (DK) is the ideal destination for both adults and children to explore healthy cooking and learn about nutrition and special dietary conditions. All of our cooking classes are designed to make cooking fun and the results flavorful and healthy by imparting culinary knowledge and tips that are easy to implement. Our chefs collaborate with Henry Ford Hospital dieticians and physicians to bring a comprehensive approach to cooking that promotes wellness. In fact, our dieticians and physicians are often present in many of our “Cooking for Wellness” and special dietary classes, and help to facilitate discussion and answer participants’ questions.
In addition to offering general interest and special dietary cooking classes, we also offer a robust Demonstration Kitchen Kids program designed for ages 8 through 16. Kids learn everything from reading nutrition labels and creating a shopping list of healthy foods to preparing successful meals, all in a safe and fun environment.
Demonstration Kitchen classes are engaging, include delicious food samplings, and are filled with educational information, practical tips, and advice from Henry Ford physicians and dieticians. Our classes help everyone from those who are transitioning to a healthier way of living to those already on track and looking to learn more, as well as individuals with special dietary needs—there is something for everyone at Demonstration Kitchen.
Registration is recommended and closes 72 hours prior to the day of class. Classes are $19 per person, unless otherwise noted.
The Demonstration Kitchen is also a great venue for private events, corporate outings, field trips and fundraising affairs. To learn more call 248.325.3890 or email dk@hfhs.org.
